The state of Andhra Pradesh just made a massive decision for the city of Visakhapatnam. On February 18, 2026, the state cabinet cleared 601 acres of land. This land is for Adani Infrastructure to build a very big AI data center. This project is linked to Google and its cloud business. Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu wants the state to be a leader in technology. He says this project will bring in 90,000 crore rupees. But the deal is also creating some talk because of the low price of the land.

The project is spread across three different locations in the Vizag area. Originally, the companies asked for less land. But now the government has given them over 601 acres. They even gave a 25 percent discount on the land price to help the project start fast. The goal is to create a 1,000-megawatt data center. This will be one of the biggest in all of India. It will focus on AI tools and cloud storage. The government claims this will create many jobs for local students. And they say it will use green power to save the environment.

Not everyone is happy about the land move. Some farmers had to give up their fields in villages like Tarluvada. The government is paying them 40 lakh rupees for every acre. They are also promising one job to each family that lost land. Some people resisted at first. But the government increased the money to make the deal happen. The local MLA says this is a great chance for the region. He believes Vizag will now compete with cities like Hyderabad or Bangalore.

The project will be built by Adani but used by Google. They are calling it a “Hyper-scale” center. This means it can handle a lot of data very quickly. The government is also giving 22,000 crore rupees in subsidies over the next few years. They want the work to start by April 2026. This is the biggest investment the state has seen in a long time.
