Blinkit is in major legal trouble this week. On February 18, 2026, the Delhi Police filed a First Information Report (FIR) against the delivery app. The charge is selling illegal knives that violate the Arms Act. According to the law, blades cannot be longer than 7.62 cm or wider than 1.72 cm. Police found that Blinkit was selling knives much larger than these limits. The case was registered at the Khyala police station on February 14.
The probe started because of two murders in West Delhi. One victim was a 14-year-old boy killed this month. Suspects told the police they bought their murder weapons on Blinkit. To catch the app, a constable placed a test order on February 13. He used the second floor of the police station as the delivery address! The knife arrived in just 22 minutes and cost ₹710. It was a “Stanley” folding knife. The blade was 8 cm long and 2.5 cm wide. Since it was over the legal limit, the police started raids.
Searches happened immediately. On February 15, teams checked “dark stores” in Delhi and found 16 illegal knives. On February 16, they raided a big warehouse in Farrukhnagar, Gurugram. They found 32 more prohibited blades there. This brings the total seizure to 50 knives. The police are now looking at the supply chain. They want to know which managers allowed these weapons on the app. Notices are being sent to company bosses. Blinkit has not commented on the case yet.
This is a big mess for the quick-commerce giant. The police are warning all sites to stop selling big knives. They are worried that killers can get weapons in minutes. If the probe shows the company was careless, staff could face jail. For now, the app has a lot of explaining to do. Safety rules in 2026 are getting very strict for online sellers.
